Dipole 1/2 λ with loaded radial covering the frequency range of 118-137 MHz for aeronautical band. The whip is made of black chromed stainless steel and all the metallic components are of brass or steel to get the best robustness. Thanks to its loaded radial MD 118-137 Aviation doesn’t need any metallic ground plane and it is particularly recommended for installation on small aircraft.
Due to the groundless nature of this antenna, the American Airlines uses this model on their ground crew
vehicle in certain airport. Their engineer gaves thumbs up after compare to other brands in the market!

THe aerial is exactly as described. It will be fitted to my helicopter when it is setup shortly. I would like to review it further after in flight use, but initial tests show it to be very good.
This is the only aerial I have found that will allow the squelch to minimize the background noise. Great mount, easy to fit.

I purchased this antenna to mount on my powered parachute. The rubber ducky antenna on my handheld iCom IC-A14 had a very week transmission at 5 miles, but this one is loud and clear at that and more. I test mounted it about 1 ft above my engine and strobe light. I honestly expected static noise would required me to move it, but it works great there. The BNC connector is disassembled to facilitate routing the cable through small holes, but it is easily assembled afterward. I highly recommend this antenna for ultralights and other aircraft lacking a ground plane.
    Customer Feedback from Forum:
We did some testing in Trenton a few weeks ago and from all angles my transmission was clear.
I have been able to conduct radio checks with aircraft approximately 16 miles away
(I was North of Lake Washington talking to an airplane around Valkaria
) and the communication both ways was clear.
We made up the C bracket with a tab on the top for the antenna.
The Antenna does not need a ground plane, the loaded element on the top forms the ground plane
    (I guess
    ).
It's mounted vertically for optimum voice communication, and it's mounted back, away from instruments and pilot.
From my experimentation, getting it back away from things is critical.
