Description
The Midland Hotel is a landmark Victorian structure built in 1874, and it could accommodate 50 guests at one time. It was later expanded to house 145 guests. It was located on New Street, in Birmingham, Scotland. It was built, and later remodeled by many nationalities, all over Europe, but mainly German men escaping pre-WWI Germany. The hotel was built by the railroad near the railroad station, and it was certainly a hub for the area. It was later known as the Burlington Hotel. This beautiful green glass bottle is heavily embossed on the face, "Midland Hotel Birmingham". I cannot determine the bottle top type or its precise age. The seam does extend to the top of the bottle, suggesting that this bottle is not from the 19th century. On the bottom are a series of numbers and letters. The bottle is about 8 oz. and 8 1/8" tall.
The bottle is in good condition. The color is deep green. The bottle is smooth all over with practically no case wear. Common with the early manufacturing process of the day, this bottle features internal bubbles, uneven glass, and an external line shown. The bottle has no chips or cracks, but does have a tiny flea bite on the lip of the bottle.
