    Description

Rare Primitive Stoneware Beer/Mead Bottle for Neal & Sloan of Laceyville Pennsylvania
Description:  Rare example of a cylindrical stoneware beer bottle produced by Neal & Sloan of Laceyville, Pennsylvania. This one has a rounded tapered lip and is listed as a Mead style bottle. The inside edge of the lip and the base has light wear as expected from use. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, from age. There is one notable crack stemming from specking when fired. There are a few dark spots from the firing process. The impressed lettering on the bottle appears to have a very light cobalt coloring. You would be hard pressed to find another example like this! I have added pictures with studio lighting as well as natural lighting.
A fantastic piece of Susquehanna pottery!
Marked: NEAL & SLOAN / LACEYVILLE
Measures: 10" Tall x 3.5" on the base
